Assessing sea roughness from monocular imagery is challenging because open water offers few conventional depth cues. Without stereoscopic depth perception, the three-dimensional crests and troughs that distinguish sea states are harder to interpret.
This output investigates the fractal nature of the sea surface and evaluates the extent to which fractal-dimension features can inform sea-state classification from single-view imagery.
